The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match scheduled for April 6 at Eden Gardens is likely to be rescheduled due to security concerns, as per a PTI report.
The Kolkata Police have reportedly declined to provide security clearance for the game, citing concerns over Ram Navami celebrations on the same day.

CAB Confirms No Security Clearance for April 6 Fixture
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed after two rounds of discussions with the city police on March 18 that the authorities have not given the go-ahead for the match.
🗣 “They have categorically said they won’t be able to provide adequate security. If there’s no police protection, accommodating a 65,000-strong crowd becomes impossible,” Ganguly stated, as quoted by PTI.
🗣 “We have informed the BCCI, and there is still time to take a final call. Even last year, a scheduled IPL match on Ram Navami had to be rescheduled.”
Possible Rescheduling and Previous IPL Impact
This is not the first time a KKR home game has faced scheduling issues due to Ram Navami. In IPL 2024, a match between KKR and Rajasthan Royals was also rescheduled due to security reasons.
The KKR vs LSG fixture was expected to be a high-voltage encounter, drawing a full house at Eden Gardens with strong local support for both teams.
IPL 2025 Kickoff and Grand Opening Ceremony at Eden Gardens
Meanwhile, IPL 2025 is set to kick off on March 22, with defending champions KKR taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens.
A glamorous opening ceremony will precede the game, featuring performances by renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani. ICC chairman Jay Shah and other dignitaries are expected to be present.
🗣 “It’s a marquee match with full demand for tickets. Eden Gardens is set to host an opening ceremony after a long time,” Ganguly added, without revealing further details.
With the KKR vs LSG match now in doubt, the BCCI will soon decide on a possible rescheduling, ensuring a smooth flow of fixtures in IPL 2025.
