Talking to Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the tournament, the former BCCI president talked about his five favorite players and revealed their potential.

Ganguly told Star Sports, ‘Suryakumar Yadav is the best. Of course, you wouldn’t consider him young anymore, Prithvi Shaw has got a lot of talent in the T20 format amongst the young players. I think Rishabh Pant too. While Shaw will be playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, Pant is recuperating from his injuries in a car accident.

Ganguly said, ‘Shaw is young. The world can follow in his footsteps. Rishabh Pant is at number two. I would like to see Rituraj Gaikwad and how he plays. I think these are three batsmen. Former India captain Ganguly was known for giving chances to youngsters during his playing days.

Ganguly said that fans would come to see Umran Malik in the IPL. The former captain said, ‘Umran Malik, if fit, will probably keep the fans interested because he has pace.’ Ganguly struggled to choose the fifth name and finally took the name of Shubman Gill.

Ganguly said, ‘Yes, the name had slipped my mind. But I think my fifth player would be Shubman Gill. So Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, and Surya are on top of the list. Apart from this, there are Rituraj Gaikwad, Umran Malik, and Shubman Gill.
