Rest of India team announced for Irani Cup, Mayank Agarwal became captain, Sarfaraz Khan out due to injury

The All India Senior Selection Committee has announced the Rest of India squad for Irani Cup 2023. BCCI gave this information through a tweet. The Irani Cup match will be played from March 1 to March 5 in Gwalior.

Let us tell you that for the Rest of India, BCCI has appointed Mayank Agarwal as the captain of the team. At the same time, Sarfaraz Khan will not be a part of this team due to a finger injury. In his place, the All India Senior Selection Committee has selected Baba Indrajeet of Tamil Nadu as a replacement for the tournament.

Let us tell you that even before the Irani Cup, the team’s star batsman Sarfaraz Khan has been ruled out of the tournament. Sarfaraz was practicing at the camp of his IPL team Delhi Capitals when the ball hit his left-hand finger. He didn’t practice after that. Sarfaraz did not attend the warm-up match at Eden Gardens on 26 February. In such a situation, Baba Indrajit of Tamil Nadu has been included in the team in his place.

Baba Indrajit has so far scored 4492 runs in first-class cricket playing a total of 65 matches. During this, his highest score was 200 runs. At the same time, in List-A cricket, he scored 1268 runs in 49 matches, during which his strike rate was 90.18. At the same time, in T20 cricket, he scored 340 runs in 23 matches and during this time his strike rate was 101.49.
