Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has showered high praise on India’s cricketing depth, claiming that they are the only nation capable of fielding competitive teams across all three formats on the same day.
Speaking on the YouTube channel ‘FanaticsTV’, Starc was in awe of India’s unmatched talent pool, stating that India could play against Australia in Tests, England in ODIs, and South Africa in T20Is simultaneously and still hold their own.
“I think they are probably the only nation that can have a Test team, a one-day team, and a T20 team play on the same day—against Australia in Tests, England in the ODI, and South Africa in the T20I—and India will still be competitive. No other country can do that.”

Starc on India’s IPL Advantage in White-Ball Cricket
The conversation also touched upon whether the Indian Premier League (IPL) gives India an upper hand in white-ball cricket. Starc acknowledged that while the IPL is the top T20 league in the world, it is not the sole factor behind India’s white-ball dominance.
“I am not sure if it’s an advantage per se because, as cricketers, we have opportunities to play all franchise leagues around the world, while Indian players can only play in the IPL. But IPL is the number one product, with the best Indian and international talent, so it is right at the top.”
However, Starc pointed out that several international players gain global experience by playing in multiple leagues throughout the year, which keeps the competition intense.
“You can’t just sit on that (IPL experience) alone because players around the world play in 5-6 different franchise leagues a year, gaining exposure to world cricket. IPL helps, but talent and depth in Indian cricket make the real difference.”

Mitchell Starc to Feature in IPL 2025 for Delhi Capitals
After skipping the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a sore ankle and personal reasons, Starc is set to return to the IPL in 2025. The left-arm speedster was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for ₹11.75 crore in the mega auction held last November.
Starc’s comments reaffirm India’s growing dominance in world cricket, with a talent pool capable of competing at the highest level across all formats simultaneously.
