Mohammad Nabi Hints at U-Turn on ODI Retirement; Dreams of Playing with His Son

Afghanistan’s legendary all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has hinted at reconsidering his ODI retirement plans, expressing a heartfelt desire to share the field with his son, Hassan Eisakhil. While he previously announced that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 would be his final ODI tournament, Nabi has now indicated that he might continue playing select matches to extend his career.

Nabi Rethinking Retirement; Eyes Playing with His Son

In an exclusive interview with the ICC, Nabi revealed that he may not hang up his boots just yet, as he wants to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his 18-year-old son, who represented Afghanistan in the Under-19 World Cup last year.

“These might not be my last ODIs. I will probably play fewer ODIs and give youngsters opportunities to build experience,” Nabi stated.

“It’s my dream to play with my son. He is doing very well, and I’m pushing him to work hard. I want him to set his own goals and score big—100-plus, not just 50 or 60. He listens and keeps pushing himself.”
