🏏 Williamson Released by Gujarat Titans Ahead of IPL 2025
Williamson, who was part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) squad in IPL 2024, was released ahead of the mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Gujarat Titans, who retained only five players, decided to part ways with the veteran batter.
- Williamson was bought for ₹2 crore in the previous auction but managed to play only three matches due to injuries.
- Over his IPL career, he has been a consistent performer, scoring 2,128 runs in 79 matches.
Despite his class and experience, no franchise picked him in the IPL 2025 auction, opening the door for his new venture in the commentary box.
Williamson to Play in PSL 2025
While Williamson won’t be playing in IPL 2025, he is still set for competitive cricket. The Karachi Kings signed him for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, where he will reunite with his former Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate, David Warner.
Interestingly, Williamson was initially unsold in the PSL platinum category but was later snapped up in the supplementary round by Karachi Kings.
⚔️ PSL and IPL Clash for the First Time
For the first time ever, the PSL (April 8 – May 19) and IPL (March 22 onwards) will run simultaneously. This could create a scheduling conflict for Williamson, who might miss some PSL matches due to his commentary commitments in India.
Although he won’t be wielding the bat in IPL 2025, fans can still look forward to his insightful analysis and calm presence in the commentary box.
