IPL 2025: “I Don’t Feel the Pressure of Being a Captain, Taking One Game at a Time,” Says Rajat Patidar

As Royal Challengers Bengaluru gear up for their high-voltage clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 13, skipper Rajat Patidar remains unfazed by the weight of captaincy. Addressing the media on the eve of the game, Patidar opened up about his leadership approach and how he is balancing captaincy with his personal performance.

RCB will wear their iconic green jersey for this match, a symbolic move to promote environmental awareness. The tradition aligns with the franchise’s carbon-neutral initiative and adds a special edge to the contest.

“I see myself as captain when I’m on the field, but when I’m batting, I don’t feel the pressure of being a captain,” Patidar said. “I focus on my strengths with the bat and avoid feeling like I have to do something different just because I am leading the team.”

Having taken charge this season, the right-hander has impressed early on, with RCB winning three of the five matches under his leadership. Patidar, who has led seamlessly despite limited captaincy experience at the top level, emphasized that his mindset remains consistent whether in domestic cricket or IPL.

“We take it one game at a time,” he added. “If everyone is confident, we look to make the most of it. We’ll focus on playing good cricket, not on which venue it is. It’s a special game for us with our green initiative, and wearing the green jersey makes it even more exciting.”

While RCB’s home form has been patchy—losing to both Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium—they’ve dominated in away fixtures, registering impressive wins against Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians.

Currently, Royal Challengers Bengaluru sit fifth on the points table, while Rajasthan Royals, with two wins and three defeats, occupy the seventh spot. As both teams look to solidify their positions, all eyes will be on Patidar’s leadership in this crucial encounter.
