Hasan Ali Among Four Players Promoted to Platinum Category for PSL 10

Right-arm Test pacer Hasan Ali is among the four prominent local players elevated to the Platinum category for the highly anticipated 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled to be held in the April-May window of 2025.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the category renewals for 87 local players on Tuesday, which saw Hasan Ali (Karachi Kings), Mohammad Amir (Quetta Gladiators), Saim Ayub (Peshawar Zalmi), and Usama Mir (Multan Sultans) earn their promotion to the top tier.

The four players join the list of previously retained Platinum stars, including Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah (Islamabad United), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans), and Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi).

PSL 10 Player Categories

PSL Draft Squad

The renewed player categories for PSL 10 feature a mix of experienced stars and emerging talents:

  • Platinum Category: 13 players, featuring key names like Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Saim Ayub, and Usama Mir.
  • Diamond Category: Includes 16 players, such as former Gladiators skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik, and Test captain Shan Masood.
  • Gold Category: Comprising 30 players, distributed among the six franchises. Zalmi leads with seven players, while Kings, Qalandars, and Gladiators contribute five each, and United and Sultans four each.
  • Emerging Category: Features 12 young talents, including promising pacers Ubaid Shah and Hunain Shah.

Foreign Players and Draft Timeline

The registration window for foreign players and the trade window opened last week, with the relegation process and player retention set to be completed this month.

The PSL 10 players’ draft will take place on January 11, 2025, with the venue and time yet to be announced.
