India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph has sparked admiration from cricketing legends, with Ajay Jadeja and Wasim Akram lauding the team’s dominance. While Jadeja wished India had lifted the trophy in Lahore, Akram stated that this Indian side is so strong that they would have won the tournament anywhere in the world.

Ajay Jadeja: “Winning in Lahore Would Have Been Special”
Speaking on the Dressing Room show, former Indian captain Ajay Jadeja expressed that a victory in Pakistan would have held even greater significance for India.
“I was just wishing that if India had won this in Lahore, it would’ve been even better. It would’ve been a victory beyond just the sport.”
Jadeja also acknowledged the incredible support from cricket fans across the world, appreciating the enthusiasm shown throughout the tournament.
“Shoutout to the fans as well because every player that I’ve talked to who’s been there, they’ve enjoyed being there. The people of Pakistan have also come out in numbers. Their team didn’t do as well as they would’ve liked, but they’ve still kept that thing, and it’s been a happy moment and a great tournament.”
Wasim Akram: “This Indian Team Would Have Won Anywhere”
Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram heaped praise on India’s dominance, emphasizing that the team’s strength and depth would have ensured victory regardless of location.
“This Indian team would have won it anywhere in the world. Yes, there were a lot of talks, but once decided that India would play all of their matches in Dubai, and had they played in Pakistan, they would have won there as well.”
Akram also highlighted India’s consistency, noting their unbeaten run across two major ICC tournaments.
“They won the 2024 T20 World Cup without losing a game, they went on to win the Champions Trophy without losing even one game. That shows the depth in their cricket, that shows the leadership.”
He further reflected on India’s past struggles and how the BCCI’s backing of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid proved crucial in turning things around.
“If you remember, they lost to New Zealand 3-0 in the Test series at home, lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and lost the series in Sri Lanka. So, they were under pressure to remove the captain and the coach… but sanity prevailed. BCCI backed them, said this is our captain, this is our coach, and now they are the champions of the champion.”
A Statement Victory for India
With their second ICC trophy in two years, India has firmly established itself as the dominant force in world cricket. While Jadeja’s wish for a Lahore victory remains a “what if”, Akram’s statement underlines an undeniable truth—this Indian team is built to conquer any challenge, anywhere in the world.
