Arshdeep Singh Becomes India’s Highest Wicket-Taker in T20Is

Arshdeep Singh etched his name in the history books during the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Wednesday. The left-arm pacer dismissed Phil Salt and Ben Duckett, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is.

Starting the match with 95 T20I wickets, Arshdeep equaled Chahal’s tally of 96 by removing Salt early in England’s innings. He then went on to claim Duckett’s wicket in his second over, taking his total to 97 wickets in just 61 matches, achieving the milestone faster than any other Indian bowler.

A New Milestone in Sight

With this feat, Arshdeep now leads the list of India’s top wicket-takers in T20Is, overtaking Chahal (96 wickets in 80 matches). He is followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (90 wickets), Jasprit Bumrah (89), and Hardik Pandya (89).

Arshdeep is also on the brink of another historic achievement—becoming the first Indian bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets. With three more dismissals, he will cement his place as a trailblazer in Indian cricket.
