India’s right-handed batsman KL Rahul remains a constant topic of discussion among fans as well as cricket experts. His consistent poor performances with the bat have made him a favorite target of critics. Meanwhile, former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has seriously questioned him. But the team management is still backing KL Rahul.
Prasad on Monday raised questions about Rahul’s ‘overseas performance’ as he averages only 30 in 56 innings outside India. However, another former India test batsman Aakash Chopra categorically denied Prasad’s claims.
Venkatesh Prasad wrote in his post that “KL Rahul’s overseas Test record is excellent. But the statistics say otherwise. He has a Test average of 30 in 56 innings overseas. Rahul has scored 6 overseas centuries, but after that consecutive played low Scored innings, so the average is 30. Otherwise, his average would have been even lower. Not only this, Prasad also shared a picture of Rahul’s statistics along with it.
On Tuesday, Chopra hit back and said that these hundreds were scored by Rahul in SENA countries, due to which he is getting the support of the team management. According to Chopra, there is no dearth of talent in Rahul. He will make a great comeback very soon.
Aakash Chopra shared Rahul’s statistics in SENA countries on social media saying that “Performance of Indian batsmen in SENA countries is not very good. Maybe, this is the reason why selectors/coaches/captains are backing KL Rahul. He Has played 2 Tests at home during this period (including the current Border Gavaskar Trophy).”
After the end of the second Test in New Delhi, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a press release in which the word ‘vice-captain’ was dropped from Rahul’s name. The third Test match of the BGT series between India and Australia will be played in Indore from 1st to 5th March.
