Aamir Jamal - Pakistan

Why PCB slapped a PKR 1.4 million fine on Aamir Jamal for writing ‘804’ on Pakistan Test cap?

Pakistan pacer Aamir Jamal has been slapped with a PKR 1.4 million fine by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching the board’s code of conduct. The disciplinary action came after Jamal was seen with the number ‘804’ written on his Test cap, a move that was interpreted as a political gesture in support of former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricketing legend Imran Khan.

What Does ‘804’ Mean?

As per reports from Samaa TV, the number ‘804’ is believed to represent Imran Khan’s prison badge number, as he is currently behind bars. This display of solidarity did not sit well with the PCB, which enforces a strict policy against players making political statements on the field.

As a result, the board penalized Jamal heavily and also reportedly excluded him from Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Other Pakistan Players Also Fined

Aamir Jamal was not the only player to face disciplinary action. The PCB also penalized other players for breaches of conduct:

🔹 Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, and Abdullah Shafique – Fined PKR 500,000 each for returning late during Pakistan’s tour of Australia.
🔹 Sufiyan Muqeem, Abbas Afridi, and Usman Khan – Fined $200 each for similar protocol violations during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa.

The PCB’s strict disciplinary stance aims to ensure that players adhere to professional conduct and avoid mixing politics with cricket.

Pakistan’s Disastrous Start to New Zealand Tour

Meanwhile, on the field, Pakistan’s struggles continued as they faced a humiliating defeat to New Zealand in the first T20I.

▶️ Pakistan All Out for 91 – Their fifth-lowest T20I total ever.
▶️ New Zealand Chased It Down in Just 10.1 Overs – Tim Seifert (44 off 29) and Finn Allen (29 off 17) guided the hosts to a comfortable 9-wicket win.

With off-field controversies and on-field failures piling up, Pakistan cricket finds itself in a tough phase, needing both discipline and better performances to bounce back.
