Who is Shitanshu Kotak: Meet India’s New Batting Coach

The BCCI has recently appointed Shitanshu Kotak as Team India’s batting coach, bolstering the coaching staff ahead of the limited-overs series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The England series, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs, will be held from January 22 to February 12, followed by the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9.

Shitanshu Kotak will work alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir, assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, bowling coach Morne Morkel, and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. Shitanshu Kotak’s Journey in Cricket

Coaching Experience
Shitanshu Kotak is no stranger to coaching at the highest level. He has been an integral part of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for a significant period and has served as a coach for India A and the U-19 teams. On occasions when Rahul Dravid took a break, Kotak often assisted interim head coach VVS Laxman.

Domestic Career
A stalwart in domestic cricket, Kotak played for Saurashtra for nearly two decades. He also represented Warwickshire in England, showcasing his skills at an international level.

First-Class Career
Kotak played 130 first-class matches, scoring 8,061 runs at an impressive average of 41.76. He smashed 15 centuries and 55 half-centuries while also taking 70 wickets with the ball.

List-A Career
In 89 List-A games, Kotak scored 3,083 runs at an average of 42.33, including three centuries and 26 fifties. He also bagged 54 wickets in this format.

T20 Career
Between 2007 and 2010, Kotak played nine T20 matches, scoring 133 runs. Despite his consistent performances, Kotak narrowly missed being selected for the Indian national team on multiple occasions.
