Virat Kohli Mania Grips Delhi; Extra Seats Arranged For Ranji Match vs Railways

Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli is all set to feature in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy clash against Railways on January 30, and the excitement surrounding his return to domestic cricket is at an all-time high. The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) is making special arrangements to accommodate the massive crowd expected to witness the former India captain in action.

Virat Kohli’s Surprise Domestic Return

Kohli’s participation in the Ranji Trophy comes after a rough patch in Test cricket, leading to criticism from all quarters. Initially, he was expected to play against Saurashtra, but a neck sprain delayed his comeback. Now, with Kohli confirmed for the clash against Railways, fans are gearing up for a rare chance to watch the modern-day great play in domestic cricket.

DDCA Arranges 10,000 Seats For Fans

Recognizing Kohli’s immense popularity, the DDCA is reportedly making arrangements to allow up to 10,000 fans to attend the match for free. This move ensures that Delhi cricket fans get an opportunity to see their icon play at the domestic level.

Similar measures have been taken in the past for other high-profile players. For instance, the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) added 500 extra seats for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against J&K, where Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were playing.

Virat Kohli’s Last Ranji Trophy Match

Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy over a decade ago, in a match against Uttar Pradesh. He scored 14 runs in the first innings and 43 in the second, but Delhi lost by six wickets. By then, he had already established himself as a global cricketing icon, making domestic appearances rare.

Now, with his return, fans and cricket enthusiasts alike are eager to see whether Kohli can rediscover his red-ball form in the Ranji Trophy before India’s next big Test assignment.
