Former Pakistan cricketer and coach Mohsin Khan has stirred controversy by making a bold comparison between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, claiming that the Indian batting maestro is “nothing” compared to Pakistan’s star batter.
This statement comes in the wake of Pakistan’s humiliating exit from the Champions Trophy 2025, where they were knocked out in the group stage following defeats against New Zealand and India, while their match against Bangladesh was washed out.

Mohsin Khan’s Stunning Take on Kohli vs Babar
Speaking to ARY News, Mohsin Khan dismissed Virat Kohli’s achievements and insisted that Babar Azam is the superior batter.
“First of all, let me tell you one thing. Virat Kohli is nothing compared to Babar Azam; Kohli is zero. We are not talking here about who is a better player; we are talking about Pakistan cricket, which has been destroyed. There is no planning, no strategies, no merit, and no accountability at all,” he stated.
Kohli, who scored a century against Pakistan and hit the match-winning four in the high-voltage encounter, has registered 133 runs in the tournament. In contrast, Babar Azam managed only 87 runs in two matches, with his slow fifty against New Zealand drawing criticism.
Babar’s Role as an Opener Questioned
Meanwhile, former Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam has also questioned Babar Azam’s position as an opener, suggesting that the decision to push him up the order was a tactical error.
“Why on earth will you send him to No. 1? He’s not an opener. No. 3 is the backbone of a batting lineup, and your best batter should play there. He should have been told by the coaches to stay at No. 3 and get a century. If he got a hundred and someone else chipped in with 50 or 60, you’d have nearly 300 runs on the board. That’s how you should be playing. Even Babar should have refused to change his position. I don’t know who convinced him to open; it was a bad decision,” Alam said.
Pakistan Under Pressure After Early Exit
Following their disastrous Champions Trophy campaign, Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity has been in turmoil. Reports suggest that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan could face the axe soon as the PCB looks to make significant changes in the squad and management.
With Pakistan facing another early exit from a global tournament, the debate over team selection, leadership, and strategy continues to rage on. Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan’s controversial comments on Kohli and Babar have only added fuel to the fire.
