Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli is on the brink of rewriting history as he gears up for the IPL 2025 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on March 22. The all-time leading run-scorer in IPL history, Kohli needs just 38 runs to become the first batter ever to score 1,000 or more runs against four different IPL teams.

Kohli’s Record Against KKR and Other Teams
The RCB talisman has already crossed the 1,000-run mark against three IPL teams:
- 1057 runs vs Delhi Capitals
- 1053 runs vs Chennai Super Kings
- 1030 runs vs Punjab Kings
As of now, Kohli has 962 runs in 34 matches against KKR. If he scores at least 38 runs on Saturday, he will not only join the 1,000-run club against KKR but also become the first player ever to achieve this feat against four IPL teams.

Apart from his IPL record, the match against KKR will also be Kohli’s 400th T20 match, making him only the third Indian player to achieve this milestone after Rohit Sharma (448 T20s) and Dinesh Karthik (412 T20s).
Additionally, if Kohli scores at least 114 runs, he will become:
- The first Indian batter to reach 13,000 runs in T20s.
- The fifth player overall to achieve this feat, joining Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, and David Warner.
