Sidhu: “IPL Titles Are Not Just About Scoring Runs”
Speaking during Punjab Kings’ match against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Sidhu pointed out that cricket is a team sport, and even Kohli’s incredible run-scoring feats haven’t been enough to secure a title for RCB.
“If scoring runs was the only criterion for winning IPL titles, Virat Kohli would have had multiple trophies by now,” Sidhu said.
Despite being the all-time leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League and winning the Orange Cap twice, Kohli and RCB are yet to lift the IPL trophy. The team has reached three finals (2009, 2011, 2016) but failed to cross the finish line.
Virat Kohli’s Loyalty to RCB
Kohli, who has been part of RCB since 2008, was retained by the franchise for INR 21 crore ahead of IPL 2025. Despite receiving offers from other teams, he has remained loyal to RCB, stating that he will retire from the IPL in Bengaluru’s colors.
Kohli kicked off IPL 2025 in style, scoring an unbeaten 50+ to help RCB secure a win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

Sidhu also spoke about Punjab Kings, praising their squad for IPL 2025.
“Punjab’s team looks settled this year. It is the start of a new era under Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting,” he added.
With a solid squad and a strong leadership group, PBKS will be aiming to clinch their first-ever IPL title, something RCB has also been chasing for 17 seasons.
