Vaibhav Suryavanshi Gets Hero’s Welcome In Bihar After Record-Breaking IPL Debut

Teenage IPL sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi was greeted with overwhelming celebrations on his return to Tajpur, Bihar, following a dream debut season for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025.
At just 14 years old, Suryavanshi lit up the tournament with his fearless strokeplay and ended up being one of the brightest positives in RR’s otherwise disappointing campaign. After returning to his native village, the young opener was welcomed with cheers, garlands, and celebrations from proud locals, friends, and family. A special cake-cutting ceremony was held to honour his achievement, capturing the hearts of fans across the country.
The heartwarming reception was shared on social media by the Royals on Friday, May 23, showing glimpses of a humble star receiving love from his roots.
Suryavanshi, who was picked for ₹1.10 crore following his India U-19 performances, made an immediate impact after being slotted into the playing XI midway through the season. The aggressive left-hander scored 252 runs at a blistering strike rate of 206.55, including the fastest-ever century by a debutant and the youngest IPL centurion title, after smashing 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans.
He capped his campaign with a remarkable 57 off 33 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings on May 20, leading RR to a rare win in a tough season.
Speaking after the match, Suryavanshi reflected on his performances in a chat with head coach Rahul Dravid, who praised the youngster’s fearlessness but also reminded him about the importance of staying grounded and working harder for the next season.
With immense talent and composure at such a young age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has undoubtedly become a future star to watch. Bihar and India will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
