Uttar Pradesh to get its fourth international cricket stadium in Gorakhpur

Uttar Pradesh is all set to welcome its fourth international cricket stadium as the Yogi Adityanath-led government begins work on a brand-new state-of-the-art facility in Gorakhpur. The ambitious project, to be built on 50 acres of land in Tal Nadaur, is expected to cost INR 236.40 crore and is being fast-tracked to completion.
According to reports, 45 acres will be utilized for the main stadium structure, while the remaining 5 acres are earmarked for auxiliary facilities like parking. The stadium will be strategically connected by a new road linking it to the Varanasi-Gorakhpur highway, making it easily accessible from key locations — 23.6 km from Gorakhpur Airport, 20.8 km from the railway station, and 22 km from Raptinagar Bus Stand.
Currently, Kanpur and Lucknow host international matches in the state, while a stadium in Varanasi is also nearing completion. The Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium will further elevate Uttar Pradesh’s status as a cricketing hub.
Key Features of the Gorakhpur Stadium:
- Built under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model
- Seating capacity of 28,980
- Two main pavilions – North and South
- Two large stands – East and West, with 14,490 seats each
