A Highly Experienced Coach
Stuart Law has an extensive coaching background, having previously led Bangladesh, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan in various capacities. Notably, he guided Bangladesh to their first-ever Asia Cup final in 2012. In addition to his international coaching roles, Law has worked with Bangladesh Under-19s, served as the batting coach for the Australian national team, and held key roles in Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence and their Under-19 program.
Recently, he coached the USA men’s team, helping them achieve historic milestones, including a T20I series win over Bangladesh and a remarkable run to the Super Eights stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, his tenure was short-lived, lasting just seven months before he was let go in October 2024.
Nepal’s Recent Performance and Challenges Ahead
Under former coach Monty Desai, Nepal made significant progress, securing whitewash series victories over USA (3-0) in T20Is and Canada (3-0) in ODIs. Nepal also played in the 2024 T20 World Cup, but failed to secure a win in three games. Earlier, they debuted in the 2023 ODI Asia Cup but struggled against stronger opponents.
Currently, Nepal faces a tough road ahead in the World Cup League 2. They sit in the second-last position and must perform well to improve their chances of securing a spot in global tournaments.
Law’s First Challenge: Tri-Series in Scotland
Stuart Law’s first assignment as Nepal’s head coach will be the upcoming tri-series against Scotland and the Netherlands in June 2025, as part of the World Cup League 2 fixtures. This will be a crucial series for Nepal, as they look to climb the points table and regain momentum.
With Law’s tactical expertise and vast coaching experience, Nepal will hope to strengthen their squad and achieve greater success in international cricket. Fans will be eager to see how the team evolves under his leadership.
