Security Scare in Jaipur: Sawai Mansingh Stadium Receives Bomb Threat Ahead of RR vs PBKS Clash

Just a day after a bomb threat created panic at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium has become the latest target. On Thursday morning, officials confirmed that a threatening email was received by the Rajasthan Sports Council, warning of an imminent bomb blast at the stadium. The email chillingly stated, “We will do bomb blast in your stadium for the success of Operation Sindoor. Save everyone if you can.”

This disturbing threat arrives days before the scheduled IPL 2025 fixture between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, set to be held at the venue on May 16. As a result, the stadium was immediately evacuated, and a high-level search operation was launched by local authorities.

Police teams, including the Quick Response Team (QRT) and bomb disposal units, were deployed to secure the stadium and the surrounding area. Fortunately, after extensive combing, no suspicious objects or devices were found, Additional Police Commissioner Kunwar Rashtradeep confirmed. Meanwhile, the cyber wing has begun an investigation to track the source of the email.

Rajasthan Sports Council President Neeraj K. Pawan acknowledged the severity of the situation and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure safety ahead of the remaining IPL matches. The event has caused widespread concern, particularly given the recent security threats associated with India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’—a retaliatory military strike targeting nine terror locations in Pakistan and PoK following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The incident follows a similar bomb threat received by the Cricket Association of Bengal during the high-profile KKR vs CSK clash at Eden Gardens. Security measures across IPL venues are now expected to be significantly heightened, with both central and state agencies closely monitoring the situation.

Authorities continue to urge fans and attendees to remain alert while emphasizing that matches will only go ahead after full security clearance. The latest developments have cast a shadow over the IPL 2025 season, as organizers and local governments grapple with growing security concerns amidst escalating geopolitical tensions.

Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation unfolds and security agencies assess the threat landscape across upcoming fixtures.
