Sarfaraz Khan Sheds 10 KG, Gears Up for England Tour with Strict Diet and Intense Training

Sarfaraz Khan is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the upcoming tour of England, shedding an impressive 10 kilograms as part of a rigorous training and diet regime. The 27-year-old batter is said to be following a strict plan under the close supervision of his father and coach, Naushad Khan.

According to reports, Sarfaraz has adopted a disciplined dietary routine, which includes boiled vegetables and chicken, completely cutting out unhealthy indulgences to get into peak physical shape. He’s also been working rigorously on his technique, with particular emphasis on handling deliveries outside the off-stump – a common challenge in English conditions. Training twice a day for long hours, Sarfaraz appears highly motivated to secure a place in the Indian squad.

Sarfaraz has been included in the India A squad for their two four-day matches against England Lions, a key opportunity ahead of India’s five-match Test series against England starting June 20. The series will mark the beginning of a new era for Indian cricket following the Test retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Though he’s yet to make his mark in overseas Tests, Sarfaraz has shown promise in his short international career so far. In six Test matches, he has scored 371 runs, including three half-centuries and a hundred, displaying solid temperament and flair in the middle order. While he was part of the squad during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he didn’t get a game, but now finds himself in the mix with two batting spots potentially up for grabs.

As the team transitions under new head coach Gautam Gambhir, and with Shubman Gill emerging as a likely candidate to lead the red-ball team, Sarfaraz’s hard work could pay off at the perfect time. His recent Instagram story reflected his grinding efforts under Naushad’s guidance — a glimpse into the fire that fuels his ambition to be a regular in the Test XI.

The BCCI is yet to announce the final Test squad, but Sarfaraz’s renewed focus and fitness transformation could give him the edge as India looks to rebuild in a post-Rohit-Virat era.

India’s Tour of England 2025 Schedule
