Sanju Samson’s Father Alleges Bias, Urges Him to Stop Playing for Kerala

Indian cricketer Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Viswanath, has raised serious allegations against the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), claiming that the association has been biased against his son and has treated him unfairly over the years. This statement comes after Sanju’s exclusion from India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad, which has sparked debates among fans and cricket experts alike.

The KCA controversy gained momentum following Sanju’s omission from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, allegedly for skipping a three-day camp in Wayanad. While Sanju had informed KCA about his unavailability in advance, the association cited this as the reason for his exclusion.

“My Child Is Not Safe Here”

In an interview with Sports Tak, Viswanath revealed his anguish over the ongoing treatment Sanju has faced from KCA.

“We have been facing trouble for 10 to 12 years now. I don’t know why KCA is targeting us. My child is not safe here. They blame him for everything, and people believe them. I want Sanju to stop playing for Kerala. If any other state is willing to give him a chance, I am ready to make that appeal.”

Viswanath also recalled similar treatment meted out to Sanju’s elder brother, Saly Samson, who was a top performer for Kerala but struggled to get opportunities.

KCA’s Response and Allegations

KCA officials, including Secretary Vinod S. Kumar and Chief Jayesh George, expressed disappointment with Sanju for allegedly neglecting domestic commitments. Kumar claimed that Sanju’s absence from the Vijay Hazare Trophy camp led to his omission.

Sanju, however, has maintained that he made his unavailability clear beforehand. Despite his explanation, the situation has escalated, with his father alleging that KCA has been plotting against his son for months.

“They are isolating my son and creating conspiracies. We have never hurt anyone or said anything against them, but they want Sanju to leave Kerala,” Viswanath added.

Support from Gambhir and Suryakumar

Viswanath also expressed gratitude to India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir for backing Sanju in the ongoing series against England.

“I am grateful to Suryakumar and Gautam Gambhir for giving my son a chance. They recognized his potential and trusted him. This support means a lot to us, and there is no need to feel disappointed about the Champions Trophy snub,” he remarked.

A Call for Change

Viswanath’s plea for Sanju to leave Kerala cricket reflects the deep frustration with what he perceives as systemic bias. The cricketer, known for his talent and composure, has been a consistent performer for India in recent months, but the controversy with KCA has overshadowed his achievements.

Whether Sanju Samson will continue representing Kerala or consider playing for another state remains to be seen. For now, the focus shifts to his performances in the ongoing series against England, where he aims to silence critics and prove his worth yet again.
