Gujarat Titans’ left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore has issued a confident statement on his cricketing journey, asserting that he is currently among the best spinners in India and is ready to prove his mettle on the international stage.
The 28-year-old, who made his IPL debut in 2022, has become a crucial cog for the Gujarat Titans. In just 25 appearances, he has bagged 32 wickets at an average of 20.34, with a best of 4/33, cementing his place as one of the most consistent performers in the league.
Sai Kishore’s Bold Claim
In an interaction with ANI, the Tamil Nadu star revealed his self-belief and dedication toward becoming a multi-dimensional cricketer.
“I am definitely working on my batting and fielding. Not just these things, even my bowling with regard to being multi-skilful if I can say that. I feel I am one of the best spinners in the country going around. I have already told this, and I really believe it, and with all humility, I feel that. Whenever the chance comes, I think I will be ready for it,” said Kishore.
His confidence stems from consistent growth. He initially joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2020 but didn’t get a game. It was his standout role in Tamil Nadu’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victory that brought him recognition, eventually earning him a ₹3 crore contract with the Gujarat Titans in 2022, where he played a key role in their title-winning campaign.
Strong Numbers in Domestic Cricket
Sai Kishore’s domestic career has been equally impressive. He was Tamil Nadu’s leading wicket-taker in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy season and later delivered a match-winning seven-wicket haul in the Duleep Trophy final for South Zone.
In 2023, he once again starred for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy, helping them clinch the title. That same year, he made his India debut at the Asian Games, finishing with four wickets in three games at an economy rate of just 5.25.
Sai Kishore also expanded his horizons by playing in the 2025 County Championship for Surrey, gaining valuable experience in English conditions.
International Debut & Future Prospects
On the international front, Kishore has featured in three T20Is for India, taking four wickets, including a remarkable 3/12 on debut. Despite limited opportunities, he remains determined to cement his place in the national squad.
With India preparing for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies starting October 2, the left-arm spinner is hopeful of getting a chance to prove himself in the longest format.
“Whenever the opportunity arises, I will be ready to grab it with both hands and make a lasting impact,” he added.
As selectors look for variety in India’s spin department, Sai Kishore’s form and confidence could make him a strong contender for future assignments.
