Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is all set to begin a new chapter off the field. On Sunday, June 8, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star will get engaged to Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Samajwadi Party (SP). The ring ceremony will take place at a luxury hotel in Lucknow, attended by close friends and family members of both parties.
A New Beginning After IPL 2025
Rinku, who was part of the KKR squad in IPL 2025, had a modest season with the bat. He scored 206 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 153.73 and an average of 29.42. Despite his efforts, KKR failed to reach the playoffs, finishing eighth on the points table with five wins, 12 points, and a net run rate of -0.305.
Now, with the IPL done and dusted, Rinku shifts focus to his personal life.
How Rinku Met Priya Saroj
Their love story isn’t brand new. According to Tufani Saroj, Priya’s father and an SP MLA from Kerakat, the two have known each other for more than a year. He revealed in an earlier interview that Rinku and Priya were introduced through a mutual friend — the son of another cricketer.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage,” Tufani Saroj told India Today.
Who is Priya Saroj?
Priya Saroj is the newly elected MP from Machhlishahr in Jaunpur district, representing the Samajwadi Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She hails from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi and has been active in politics for several years, particularly since her father’s 2022 Assembly campaign.
Before entering politics, Priya built a successful legal career. She holds a law degree from Amity University, Noida, and has also earned an arts degree from a reputed university. She worked as an attorney at the Supreme Court prior to contesting elections.
