Preity Zinta Sues Co-Owners Ness Wadia & Mohit Burman Over Disputed Punjab Kings Meeting

Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has filed a lawsuit against fellow directors Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman in a Chandigarh court, escalating internal tensions within the IPL franchise’s ownership group.
Zinta, Wadia, and Burman are directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited—the company that owns the Punjab Kings. The dispute revolves around an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21, which Zinta alleges was conducted in violation of the Companies Act, 2013 and other legal formalities.
Zinta Challenges EGM Legitimacy
According to Zinta, she had raised objections via an email dated April 10, opposing the EGM and its agenda. However, her concerns were allegedly ignored. She claims that despite her objections, Burman moved ahead with the meeting, supported by Wadia.
Zinta, along with fellow director Karan Paul, did attend the meeting, but both opposed the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a new director—a key issue she has highlighted in the case.
Legal Demands from the Court
In her petition, Preity Zinta has urged the court to:
- Declare the April 21 EGM invalid.
- Prohibit Muneesh Khanna from serving as a director.
- Restrict the company from acting on any decisions made during the disputed meeting.
- Bar the firm from conducting any future board or general meetings without the presence of both her and Karan Paul, and also without the participation of Khanna.
Continued Support Amid Legal Storm
Despite the legal tensions, Zinta has remained publicly supportive of the team. She has been seen cheering from the stands throughout IPL 2025, where the Punjab Kings, captained by Shreyas Iyer, have had a breakthrough season.
For the first time since 2014, PBKS has booked a spot in the IPL playoffs. With 17 points from 12 matches, they currently hold third position and are in contention for a top-two finish.
Upcoming Matches for PBKS
- May 24: vs Delhi Capitals in Jaipur
- May 26: vs Mumbai Indians
The team’s on-field success contrasts sharply with the off-field ownership dispute—an issue that may take some time to resolve but one that hasn’t distracted the franchise from its IPL 2025 ambitions.
