The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pushing the International Cricket Council (ICC) to convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to participate in the 2025 Champions Trophy held in Pakistan.
While the ICC approved the tournament’s budget in Colombo, discussions on the schedule and format haven’t taken place yet.
PCB sources claim they’ve fulfilled their obligations. “We’ve secured government clearance for India’s participation and submitted details on tax regulations and venues,” a source told PTI. “The ball is now in the ICC’s court to convince India.”
The PCB reportedly proposed Lahore as the venue for India’s matches, including a potential semi-final and the final. However, formal talks between PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCCI secretary Jay Shah haven’t materialized.
The PCB seeks confirmation from the BCCI regarding their participation in Pakistan. The ICC has reportedly allocated additional funds in case India requires matches outside Pakistan.
India’s participation hinges on government approval, as the BCCI has consistently maintained.
