Pakistan Deploys 12,000 Police Officials, PIA Charter Flights to Ensure Smooth Champions Trophy

With Pakistan set to host its first ICC event since the 1996 World Cup, the country is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a secure and seamless Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and local authorities have ramped up security and logistical arrangements, including the deployment of 12,000 police officials and nine chartered flights for participating teams and fans.

Massive Security Deployment for Matches in Pakistan

According to a report by The News, the Punjab Police has mobilized an extensive security force across key venues in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi, where matches will be played. The security breakdown includes:

  • Lahore (3 matches, Feb 22 – Mar 5)
    • 8,000 police personnel assigned
    • 12 senior officers, 39 DSPs, 86 inspectors
    • 700 upper subordinates, 6,673 constables, and 129 female officers
  • Rawalpindi (3 matches, Feb 24 – 27)
    • 5,000 police personnel deployed
    • 6 senior officers, 15 DSPs, 50 inspectors
    • 500 upper subordinates, 4,000 constables, and 100+ female officers

The security measures are being enforced to prevent any disruptions, as Pakistan has not hosted an ICC event since the 2009 Champions Trophy was relocated to South Africa following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.
