Massive Security Deployment for Matches in Pakistan
According to a report by The News, the Punjab Police has mobilized an extensive security force across key venues in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi, where matches will be played. The security breakdown includes:
- Lahore (3 matches, Feb 22 – Mar 5)
- 8,000 police personnel assigned
- 12 senior officers, 39 DSPs, 86 inspectors
- 700 upper subordinates, 6,673 constables, and 129 female officers
- Rawalpindi (3 matches, Feb 24 – 27)
- 5,000 police personnel deployed
- 6 senior officers, 15 DSPs, 50 inspectors
- 500 upper subordinates, 4,000 constables, and 100+ female officers
The security measures are being enforced to prevent any disruptions, as Pakistan has not hosted an ICC event since the 2009 Champions Trophy was relocated to South Africa following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.

Apart from tight security, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has arranged nine special chartered flights to facilitate the movement of players, officials, and fans. These exclusive flights will operate between Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore, ensuring smooth travel logistics.
Champions Trophy 2025 Kicks Off with Pakistan vs New Zealand
The tournament kicks off on February 19, with defending champions Pakistan taking on New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium. The group stage will run until March 1, with matches spread across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
