Rohit Sharma - Fat

“Pack your bags and leave the country”- Yograj Singh angrily slams Dr. Shama Mohamed for saying ‘Rohit Sharma is fat’

Former India cricketer Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, has strongly criticized Congress spokesperson Dr. Shama Mohamed for her now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), where she labeled India captain Rohit Sharma as “fat and unfit” while calling him the “most unimpressive captain” India has ever had.

In a fiery response, Yograj Singh lashed out at Mohamed, stating that if he were the Prime Minister of India, he would have told her to “pack her bags and leave the country.”

The Controversial Post

Dr. Shama Mohamed’s now-deleted tweet read:
🗣️ “- @ImRo45 is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course, the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!”

Her remarks came after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal on 15 (17) against New Zealand in India’s final Champions Trophy 2025 group-stage match on Sunday.

Yograj Singh’s Strong Response

Yograj Singh, known for his outspoken nature, did not hold back in condemning Mohamed’s remarks. Speaking to ANI, he said:

🗣️ “I only want to say one thing—‘Jiska kaam usee ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje’ (A job suits only those meant for it, otherwise it leads to disaster). Indian cricketers, our people, and this land are more dear to me than my own life.

If someone in politics makes such a statement about a player who has brought pride to our nation, that person should be ashamed.”

Singh further added that such behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated, drawing comparisons to criticism faced by cricketers in Pakistan.

🗣️ “If I were the Prime Minister, I would have said—pack your bags and leave the country.”

Shama Mohamed’s Clarification

Following massive backlash from Rohit Sharma fans and several cricketers, Dr. Shama Mohamed clarified her statement in an interview with ANI.

🗣️ “It was a generic tweet about the fitness of a sportsperson. It was not body-shaming. I always believed a sportsperson should be fit, and I felt he was a bit overweight, so I just tweeted about that.

I have been attacked for no reason. I have the right to compare him with previous captains. What is wrong in saying that? This is a democracy.”

Social Media Backlash

Mohamed’s remarks triggered outrage among Indian cricket fans, with many calling her statement disrespectful and unnecessary.

Fans defended Rohit Sharma, highlighting his achievements as a T20 World Cup-winning captain and one of India’s most successful batters.

With tensions high, the debate rages on—was it a fair fitness critique or an unnecessary attack on one of India’s most celebrated cricketers?
