Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid might be donning the Rajasthan Royals colors once again, but this time, as their head coach for IPL 2025! Talks are reportedly underway between Dravid and the Royals, with an official announcement expected soon, according to the Times of India.
A Fond Reunion on the Cards
This potential move marks a nostalgic return for Dravid, who played for the Royals in the inaugural IPL season (2008) and continued with them till 2013. He further served as their mentor from 2014-15. The Royals, seeking their second IPL title after finishing runners-up in 2022, see Dravid as a valuable asset.
Experience and Success Precede Him
Dravid’s coaching credentials are undeniable. Recently, he guided the Indian team to a historic T20 World Cup victory, adding to their 2023 World Cup finals appearance. This experience, coupled with his past association with the Royals, makes him a strong contender for the head coach role.
A Question of Presence: Sangakkara and Dravid Together?
However, with Dravid potentially at the helm, the position of Rajasthan Royals’ current Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, remains unclear. It’ll be interesting to see if both cricketing legends can co-exist within the Royals’ management structure for the upcoming season.
