Nepal Prevails Over UAE in Thrilling Contest

In a nail-biting contest, Nepal secured a hard-fought victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 5 wickets in the 5th match of the Nepal T20I Tri-Series. The match, held at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu on Monday, October 23, 2023, witnessed exceptional performances from both teams.

UAE’s Innings

Winning the toss and electing to bat, UAE managed to put up a challenging total of 164-7 in their allotted 20 overs. The top-scorers for UAE were Basil Hameed, who contributed 45 runs, and Aravind, who scored 45. Nepal’s Sompal Kami and Abinash Bohara played pivotal roles in curbing UAE’s progress. Sompal Kami took two wickets, while Abinash Bohara also claimed two.

Nepal’s Thrilling Chase

Nepal commenced their chase with an early wicket but kept the scoreboard ticking. Aasif Sheikh displayed an outstanding performance, scoring 62 runs off 50 balls. Rohit Paudel’s 47 runs from 42 balls also played a crucial role in Nepal’s chase. In the end, Dipendra Singh Airee and Gulsan Jha successfully sealed the win, with Dipendra scoring 40 not out.

The match concluded with Nepal reaching 165-5 in 19.2 overs, securing a thrilling 5-wicket win over UAE.

Outstanding Bowling Performances

Among UAE’s bowlers, Muhammad Jawadullah stood out by taking two wickets, conceding 27 runs. Akif Raja claimed one wickets as well. Zahoor Khan and Ali Naseer also contributed to the bowling attack but could not prevent Nepal from achieving their target.
