Litton Das

Litton Das Named Captain for West Indies T20I Series

Bangladesh has appointed Litton Das as captain for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the West Indies. This marks the first time Litton will lead the team for an entire T20I series, though he previously captained in a one-off T20I during Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand in April 2021.

Shamim Hossain Returns to the Fold

The series also sees the return of batting allrounder Shamim Hossain, who last featured in international cricket in December 2023. Shamim, 24, has had a modest T20I career so far, scoring 254 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 115.98, with one half-century to his name.

Ripon Mondol and Other Notable Inclusions

A surprise pick for the squad is Ripon Mondol, the 21-year-old medium-fast bowler who impressed at the Asian Games in October 2023, where he claimed four wickets and helped Bangladesh secure a bronze medal.

Other players making a comeback include fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, top-order batter Soumya Sarkar, and middle-order batter Afif Hossain.

Key Absentees

  • Regular all-format captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained in the Afghanistan series in November.
  • Veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan remains unavailable, with no updates on his international future.
  • Mahmudullah is absent following his retirement from T20Is, while Towhid Hridoy (groin injury) and Mustafizur Rahman (on paternity leave) are also unavailable.

  • 1st T20I: December 16
  • 2nd T20I: December 18
  • 3rd T20I: December 18
All matches will be played in Kingstown.
