Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out of Champions Trophy 2025; Harshit Rana Named Replacement, Varun Chakaravarthy Added

In a massive blow to Team India, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday. Harshit Rana, who recently made his ODI debut in the ongoing series against England, has been named as Bumrah’s replacement in the squad.

Adding to the changes, the BCCI has also included spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in the Champions Trophy squad. The Tamil Nadu leg-spinner was initially drafted into the ODI setup after his impressive performance against England in the T20I series. Chakaravarthy will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad.

📌 Scans Conducted: Two rounds, with the latest in early February
📌 Diagnosis: No major concerns but not fit to bowl yet

Following his injury during the Sydney Test against Australia, Bumrah underwent extensive medical examinations. Although his most recent scans did not indicate anything serious, doctors advised against rushing his return to bowling.
