Rajasthan Royals (RR) have received a major boost ahead of their fourth IPL 2025 match, as Sanju Samson is set to return as the full-time captain. The wicketkeeper-batter had suffered a finger fracture before the tournament, which limited his participation in the first three games as an Impact Player, with Riyan Parag leading the side.
While Samson was initially cleared by the BCCI medical team to bat, he wasn’t allowed to keep wickets, leading to Dhruv Jurel taking over the wicketkeeping duties for the Royals. However, recent reports suggest that Samson has passed his final fitness tests at the Center of Excellence (CoE), clearing him to resume his full role.
A BCCI source confirmed the development to Times of India, stating:
“Yes, he has cleared the final fitness tests at the NCA.”
This means Sanju Samson will lead Rajasthan Royals in their next match on April 5 against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur.
