‘Indian Premier League for Retired Cricketers’: Report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the launch of an Indian Premier League (IPL)-style tournament exclusively for retired cricketers.

The idea gained traction after a group of former Indian cricketers, including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Harbhajan Singh, approached BCCI Secretary Jay Shah with a proposal for such a league.

Currently, retired cricketers participate in various legends leagues organized by private entities, but a BCCI-backed tournament is expected to garner significant attention and participation. The proposed league could feature a similar format to the IPL, with teams competing against each other in a home-and-away format.

While the concept is still in its early stages, the BCCI has shown positive interest and is exploring the feasibility of launching the tournament as early as next year.

If materialized, the league promises to be a thrilling spectacle, bringing together some of the biggest names in cricket for one last hurrah.
