Surpassing Ashutosh Aman’s Record
Dubey shattered the previous record held by Bihar’s Ashutosh Aman, who had claimed 68 wickets in the 2018-19 season. He surpassed this milestone when he dismissed Kerala’s No. 10 batter MD Nidheesh, trapping him LBW on the final ball of the 122nd over in Kerala’s first innings. This wicket marked Dubey’s 69th dismissal of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, making him the highest wicket-taker in a single edition of the tournament.

A Crucial Role in the Ranji Trophy Final
In the first innings of the final, Dubey delivered an impressive spell, picking up 3 wickets for 88 runs in 44 overs, helping Vidarbha bowl out Kerala for 342 runs. This gave Vidarbha a crucial first-innings lead of 37 runs.
Kerala’s Sachin Baby was the top scorer in the innings, playing a resilient knock of 98 runs from 235 balls, which included 10 boundaries. However, his dismissal at the hands of Parth Rekhade in the 107th over proved to be a turning point in the innings.
Vidarbha Eyes Third Ranji Trophy Title
With a first-innings lead in their favor, Vidarbha are now in a strong position to lift their third Ranji Trophy title. If Kerala fails to bowl them out and chase down the target, Vidarbha will clinch the trophy based on their first-innings lead.
As the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 final unfolds, all eyes will be on Harsh Dubey, whose historic achievement has further cemented his status as one of India’s most promising spin talents
