The highly anticipated European T20 Premier League (ETPL) is all set to make its debut, with organizers confirming the venues and dates for the tournament’s inaugural edition. The International Cricket Council (ICC)-sanctioned league will be played in Dublin, Ireland, and Rotterdam, Netherlands, from July 15 to August 8, 2025.
Featuring six teams and 33 matches, the ETPL aims to revolutionize cricket in Europe by uniting Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands in a unique multi-nation franchise-based competition.

ETPL’s Unique Structure & European Cricket Expansion
Unlike most T20 leagues, which are run by a single national cricket board, the ETPL is a joint effort of Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, and Cricket Netherlands. This collaboration is expected to strengthen cricketing ties among these European nations and boost the sport’s growth across the continent.

- Six teams from Dublin, Belfast, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
- Each squad will include:
✅ 8 homegrown players
✅ 1 development player from a European nation
✅ International cricketers (to be selected via a draft system). - Venues: Matches will be played in Dublin and Rotterdam.
- Match count: 33 games in total.
In an official statement reported by Cricbuzz, the ETPL organizers emphasized their commitment to developing local talent and broadening the game’s reach in non-traditional cricketing markets:

Abhishek Bachchan Joins ETPL as Co-Owner & Key Promoter
Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is one of the ETPL’s key promoters and co-owners. Expressing his excitement for the tournament, he said:

With the tournament structure still being finalized, a temporary governing group, consisting of cricket board representatives and Rules Sport Tech, is overseeing ETPL’s development. They are expected to finalize the competition format, player draft process, and broadcasting deals in the coming months.
With cricket’s global footprint expanding, the ETPL’s innovative multi-nation approach could pave the way for other regional franchise leagues worldwide.
IPL 2025 to Begin Before ETPL’s Debut
Before the ETPL takes center stage in July, the cricketing world will first witness the return of IPL 2025, which kicks off on March 22 with a blockbuster clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
