Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane has come under scrutiny after reportedly requesting changes to the Eden Gardens pitch to favor spinners. Curator Stands Firm Against Pitch Alteration
After KKR’s season-opening loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rahane expressed his disappointment over the pitch, stating that he had expected more assistance for spinners. His comments, however, did not sit well with the curator, who not only dismissed the request but also criticized KKR’s spin attack for failing to perform.
🔹 Mukherjee’s Statement:
“As long as I’m here, the Eden Gardens pitch will not change. As per IPL rules, franchises have no say over pitch conditions. The pitch has remained the same over the years, and it will continue to be so in the future,” Mukherjee told RevSportz.
🔹 Curator’s Criticism of KKR Spinners:
“RCB’s spinners took four wickets between them. What did KKR’s spinners do? Krunal Pandya got three wickets. Suyash Sharma even bowled Andre Russell with a beautiful delivery,” he added.
KKR vs RR: Next Challenge in Guwahati
KKR will now shift focus to their next match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Both teams suffered heavy defeats in their opening games and will be eager to bounce back.
📊 Head-to-Head Record:
- Matches Played: 30
- Wins: KKR – 14 | RR – 14
With the pitch debate behind them, KKR will need to adapt and deliver a strong performance to secure their first win of IPL 2025.
