‘Don’t Drink Alcohol’ Vinod Kambli’s New Year Message After Hospital Discharge

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli, who was recently hospitalized due to serious health concerns, was discharged on New Year’s Eve. The cricketing icon shared a heartfelt message urging youngsters to abstain from alcohol during the festive season.

Vinod Kambli’s Health Scare

Kambli’s deteriorating health became a matter of public concern after he was spotted in a visibly weakened state at an event in Mumbai. His struggles, both mental and physical, alarmed fans across the country.

Subsequently, Kambli was admitted to Akruti Health City Hospital, where he was treated for a urinary infection and muscle cramps. Doctors later revealed that his condition was connected to brain clots, prompting immediate and intensive care.

A Triumphant Walk Out of the Hospital

On December 31, Kambli was discharged after showing significant improvement. The former cricketer walked out donning India’s latest ODI jersey, holding a cricket bat, and receiving a warm ovation from his fans.

In an emotional gesture, Kambli expressed his gratitude to the medical staff and his doctor, Shailesh Thakur, who personally drove him home.

Kambli’s Message to Youngsters

During his interaction with the media, Kambli conveyed an inspiring message for the New Year. Reflecting on his health struggles, he advised youngsters to steer clear of alcohol and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“This doctor (Dr. Thakur) made me fit, and I had promised I would return only when I was healthy. I’ll show everyone at Shivaji Park that Vinod Kambli will never leave cricket. These people here gave me cricket practice too—I only ‘hit’ fours and sixes,” Kambli told The Times of India.

Support From Maharashtra Leaders

Amid his health battles, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, extended their support. Through the Shrikant Shinde Foundation, they pledged ₹5 lakh towards Kambli’s medical expenses and assured additional aid if required.

Kambli expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Shinde family for their timely assistance and shared his eagerness to thank the Deputy CM personally. A visit by the Shinde family to meet Kambli is expected soon.

Lifting Spirits With Positivity

While in the hospital, Kambli maintained a positive demeanor, even sharing videos of his dance moves that went viral. His lively spirit inspired fellow patients and staff, demonstrating his resilience in the face of challenges.

As Kambli embarks on his journey to recovery, his message to avoid alcohol and focus on fitness resonates as a valuable lesson for fans and young cricketers alike.
