Ben Duckett Deactivates X Account After Backlash Over Jasprit Bumrah Remarks

England batter Ben Duckett has shut down his X (formerly Twitter) account following massive backlash over his remarks on Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Duckett’s comments, made in an interview ahead of India’s upcoming Test tour of England, stirred controversy among cricket fans, leading to heated debates on social media.

🔥 What Did Ben Duckett Say?

Speaking to Mail Sport, Duckett expressed confidence about facing Bumrah, stating that he had already encountered him in a five-Test series and that the Indian pacer would not be able to “surprise” him.

🗣️ “I’ve faced him in a five-Test series before. I know what he’s going to do to me, and the good thing about that is I know what skills he has. There’s going to be nothing that surprises me. It’s going to be challenging, and the red-ball skills of Mohammed Shami are just as threatening as Bumrah. But if I can get through that opening spell, I feel there are runs to be had.”

Furthermore, Duckett also stated that India at home is very different from India away, adding that England “should beat” the visitors in their own conditions.

🏏 “India at home is very different to India away. It’s a side I feel we should beat and we can beat. It’ll be a good series.”

🚨 Social Media Backlash Forces Duckett to Quit X

As soon as his remarks surfaced, fans on social media slammed Duckett for being overconfident and disrespecting Bumrah’s abilities. Many Indian fans felt that his comments downplayed the challenge of facing Bumrah in red-ball cricket.

Following the backlash, Duckett attempted to clarify his statement on X, defending himself against misinterpretations.

📝 Duckett’s Response on X (before deactivating his account):

“I never said I’m going to score runs against him. Read the article before making assumptions.”

Despite his clarification, the criticism only escalated, prompting Duckett to deactivate his X account altogether.
