BCCI Congratulates Ravindra Jadeja for Creating World Record of…

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially congratulated Ravindra Jadeja for etching his name into the history books by becoming the longest-reigning No. 1 all-rounder in Test cricket. The announcement was made through BCCI’s social media handles on Thursday, May 15, recognizing Jadeja’s remarkable feat.

Jadeja has held the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s Test All-Rounder Rankings for a staggering 1152 consecutive days, surpassing all previous records. The 36-year-old from Jamnagar, Gujarat, debuted in Test cricket on December 13, 2012, against England in Nagpur, and has since grown into one of the greatest all-rounders the sport has ever seen.

Currently, Jadeja boasts 400 rating points, standing 73 points ahead of Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is in second place. His consistent performances with both bat and ball have solidified his legacy in Indian cricket.

Jadeja’s Impressive Test Record

Over the course of 80 Test matches, Jadeja has:

  • Scored 3370 runs
  • Taken 323 wickets
  • Hit 4 centuries and 22 fifties
  • Claimed 15 five-wicket hauls

His ability to influence matches with both the bat and ball makes him an invaluable asset to the Indian team.

Upcoming England Tour

Jadeja is set to play a crucial role in India’s upcoming five-match Test series against England, beginning June 20 in Leeds. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announcing their retirement from Test cricket earlier this month, Jadeja will now be the most experienced player in the squad for the new 2025–27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Notably, in his last Test appearance in England in July 2022, Jadeja scored a brilliant century in the first innings. However, his heroics were in vain as India, then led by Jasprit Bumrah, suffered a 7-wicket defeat, missing a golden opportunity to win their first Test series in England since 2007.

As Team India prepares for this transitional phase, Jadeja’s form, leadership, and experience will be critical in guiding the younger players through the challenges of Test cricket on English soil.
