The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of its team during the upcoming tour of Pakistan. Despite assurances from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about providing state-level security, the BCB has requested the Bangladeshi government to assign a security consultant for the duration of the tour.
The decision comes amid ongoing concerns about the security situation in Pakistan, a common apprehension among international cricket teams visiting the country.
While the BCB has expressed confidence in the security arrangements promised by Pakistan, the additional measure of a government-appointed security consultant is aimed at providing an extra layer of protection for the Bangladesh team.
The two-match Test series, scheduled for Rawalpindi and Karachi in August, is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
Before the Test series, the Bangladesh A team will play two four-day games and three 50-over matches in Islamabad as part of their tour preparation.
Do you think this is an overreaction by the BCB, or a necessary precaution?
