Australia’s Grace Harris Ruled Out of 2025 Women’s World Cup, Heather Graham Named Replacement

Australia Women have suffered a setback ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, with seasoned all-rounder Grace Harris ruled out due to a calf injury sustained while fielding in the third ODI against India in Delhi last week. The 32-year-old’s absence will be a significant blow as the Aussies look to defend their title in India and Sri Lanka.

To maintain balance in the squad, Cricket Australia has named fellow all-rounder Heather Graham as a like-for-like replacement.

Heather Graham Returns to ODIs After Six Years

The upcoming tournament marks a special comeback for Heather Graham, who last played an ODI for Australia in October 2019 against Sri Lanka in Brisbane. The call-up ends her six-year wait for a return to the 50-over format.

While her ODI experience is limited, the soon-to-be 29-year-old is a proven performer in T20 leagues worldwide. She has showcased her talent in the WBBL, The Hundred, and most recently in the WPL 2025, where she represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Her versatility with both bat and ball will add valuable depth to Australia’s squad.

Australia Begin Title Defence on October 1

Defending champions Australia, who won the 2022 Women’s World Cup, will start their campaign on October 1 in Indore against arch-rivals New Zealand. The seven-time champions will be led by Alyssa Healy, with a star-studded line-up featuring Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Annabel Sutherland, and Elyse Perry.

The addition of Heather Graham ensures Australia retain their all-round strength as they chase a record-extending eighth Women’s World Cup crown.
