Cricket fans are in for a treat as Australia will tour the West Indies in 2025 for an expanded three-Test series, marking the first multi-Test series between the two sides since 2015 and the first in the Caribbean since 2012. This decision comes after the two boards agreed to add an additional match to the original schedule.
The series will also serve as the inaugural clash in the next cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC), which mandates a minimum of two Tests for bilateral series.

A Historic Rivalry Rekindled
The last time these teams met for a Test series in the Caribbean, Australia triumphed 2-0 in 2012. More recently, they shared the spoils in a 1-1 series earlier this year in Australia, where Shamar Joseph powered the West Indies to a dramatic seven-run victory at the Gabba, their first Test win against Australia in 21 years.
Official Confirmation
Speaking on the development, Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Nick Hockley expressed excitement over the extended series.
“It’s another great opportunity. The WTC prescribes at least two Tests, but for the players and fans, a three-Test series is much more satisfying,” Hockley told SEN Radio.
Hockley also reiterated CA’s commitment to advocating for longer series:
“We’ll keep championing three-Test series as an absolute minimum moving forward.”
The matches are expected to take place in Barbados, Grenada, and Jamaica starting in late June, though precise dates and venues are yet to be announced.
Beyond Tests: A Full Tour
The tour will not be limited to Tests. According to the Future Tours Programme (FTP), Australia and the West Indies will also face off in three ODIs and three T20Is, providing fans with a complete cricketing spectacle.
Looking Ahead
Australia will first focus on qualifying for the 2025 WTC Final, scheduled to take place at Lord’s from June 11-15. Meanwhile, the extended series in the West Indies underscores both boards’ efforts to enhance the quality and depth of Test cricket, reigniting a historic rivalry on Caribbean soil.
