The Asia Cup 2025 is set to take place in September, with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirming the tournament’s schedule. As per reports from Cricbuzz, the T20-format tournament will feature 19 matches and is slated to be played between the second and fourth week of September.

Asia Cup 2025 to be Played at a Neutral Venue
Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be the official host, the tournament will not be played in India. Instead, the ACC has opted for a neutral venue, with Sri Lanka and the UAE emerging as the leading contenders.
This decision follows the agreement between India and Pakistan regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is being held under a hybrid model. According to the ACC’s policy, when it’s BCCI or PCB’s turn to host, the tournament will be played at a neutral venue to avoid travel-related disputes between the two rival nations.
Given the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 being hosted in Pakistan and the UAE, a similar neutral model has been implemented for the Asia Cup 2025 to prevent potential conflicts between India and Pakistan regarding travel restrictions.
India and Pakistan to be Placed in the Same Group
The Asia Cup 2025 will feature eight teams, including:
✅ India
✅ Pakistan
✅ Sri Lanka
✅ Bangladesh
✅ Afghanistan
✅ UAE
✅ Oman
✅ Hong Kong
Nepal, who played in the previous edition, failed to qualify for this year’s tournament.
The format remains unchanged, with teams divided into two groups. India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, ensuring at least one guaranteed high-profile encounter.
✔ Top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage
✔ Top two teams from Super Four will clash in the final
This means India and Pakistan could potentially face off three times—once in the group stage, again in the Super Four round, and possibly in the final.
Four Asia Cups Till 2031
The ACC has confirmed four Asia Cups between 2025 and 2031:
📌 Asia Cup 2025 – T20 format (Neutral Venue)
📌 Asia Cup 2027 – ODI format (Bangladesh)
📌 Asia Cup 2029 – T20 format (Hosted by PCB, played at a Neutral Venue)
📌 Asia Cup 2031 – ODI format (Sri Lanka)
With the Asia Cup 2025 set to take place at a neutral venue, and the possibility of multiple India-Pakistan encounters, the tournament is expected to generate massive fan excitement worldwide.
