Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, is one of India’s oldest and most iconic cricket venues, located in the heart of New Delhi. Established in 1883, the stadium has witnessed over a century of cricketing history and remains a fortress for the Indian cricket team. Renamed in 2019 in honor of former Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president and politician Arun Jaitley, the ground continues to embody tradition, passion, and modernity in Indian cricket.

With a seating capacity of around 40,000, Arun Jaitley Stadium offers an electric atmosphere, where the energy of Delhi’s passionate fans adds to the thrill of every match. Known for its spin-friendly pitch and slower nature, the venue has often favored bowlers, especially spinners, making for gripping encounters. However, in recent years, improved infrastructure and better pitch preparation have made it a more balanced ground, suitable for all formats of the game.

Over the decades, the stadium has hosted numerous historic moments — from Anil Kumble’s unforgettable 10-wicket haul against Pakistan in 1999 to Sachin Tendulkar’s many milestones. It also serves as the home ground for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where the franchise enjoys strong home support.

Beyond cricket, Arun Jaitley Stadium symbolizes the evolution of Indian cricket — from colonial-era beginnings to modern-day excellence. With continuous upgrades, world-class facilities, and a deep-rooted legacy, it stands as a proud emblem of India’s cricketing heritage and sporting spirit.
