Arshdeep Singh Creates History as First Indian to Take 100 T20I Wickets
  • Arshdeep Singh has become the first Indian cricketer to take 100 wickets in T20Is.
  • Achieved milestone during India’s Asia Cup 2025 Group A match vs Oman in Abu Dhabi.
  • Surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal (96) and active stars Hardik Pandya & Jasprit Bumrah.
  • Reached the landmark in 64 matches, also the fastest Indian pacer to do so.

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name into the record books by becoming the first Indian cricketer in history to complete 100 wickets in T20 internationals (T20Is). The 26-year-old achieved the landmark during India’s Group A clash of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup against Oman in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19.

Walking into the game with 99 wickets, Arshdeep struck in the final over of Oman’s innings, dismissing middle-order batter Vinayak Shukla for just a single, sealing his place in history. He finished with figures of 1/37 in four overs, helping India to a comfortable 21-run victory.

Arshdeep Beats Chahal & Bumrah to Major Milestone

With this feat, the Punjab speedster went past veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (96 wickets), all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah to become the leading Indian wicket-taker in T20Is. More impressively, he also became the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 T20I wickets.

Arshdeep’s Journey to 100 Wickets

Arshdeep made his India debut in July 2022 during the T20I series against England, where he made an immediate impact with two match-winning wickets. Over the years, he evolved into India’s frontline white-ball pacer, admired for his deadly yorkers and calmness under pressure.

A major breakthrough came during the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies, where Arshdeep spearheaded India’s bowling attack and finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, playing a pivotal role in India’s title triumph.

Now, after 64 T20Is, his bowling record stands at 100 wickets at an impressive average of 18.49, making him not only India’s most prolific T20I wicket-taker but also one of the most successful fast bowlers in world cricket at this stage of his career.

Speaking after the match, Arshdeep said:
“It feels special to achieve this milestone for India. I just focus on my role and the team’s success, but these records give me confidence to push harder.”
