Abhishek’s Social Media Outburst
Abhishek Sharma shared his ordeal on Instagram, naming Sushmita Mittal, a counter manager at the airline, as being responsible for the mishap. According to the Punjab batter, the airline staff unnecessarily redirected him between counters, resulting in a missed flight and a wasted one-day holiday.
“I had the worst experience with Indigo at Delhi airport, and the behaviour of staff, especially counter manager Ms Sushmita Mittal, was absolutely unacceptable. I arrived on time at the correct counter, but they redirected me unnecessarily to another counter, only to tell me later that check-in was closed, making me miss my flight.”
He further added:
“I only had a one-day holiday, which has now been completely ruined. To make it even worse, they are offering no further helpful assistance. This is by far the worst airline experience, and worst staff management I’ve ever had.”
Impact of the Incident
The timing of the controversy is significant, as Abhishek was looking forward to spending a rare day off with his family before rejoining the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. The first match of the series is set to take place in Kolkata on January 22.

With the five-match T20I series against England approaching, Abhishek is expected to open alongside Sanju Samson, providing an aggressive option at the top of the order.
