Nepal Qualifies for 2026 T20 World Cup After Unbeaten Run in Asia-EAP Qualifier

Nepal cricket continues its meteoric rise on the global stage! The Rohit Paudel-led side has officially qualified for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Their qualification came on the back of a flawless performance in the ongoing 2025 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and EAP Qualifier, where they have remained unbeaten in all four matches so far.
This remarkable run has placed Nepal among the top two teams in the competition — ensuring their progression even before the Super Six stage concludes. With this, they join hosts Oman as the first two teams to book tickets to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Nepal’s Rapid Rise in T20 Cricket
For Nepal, this qualification represents another proud moment in their cricketing journey. After a decade-long wait for a World Cup appearance, they finally returned to the big stage during the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. Now, just a year later, they’ve secured their second consecutive qualification, signaling Nepal’s growing consistency and dominance in Associate-level cricket.
Under the guidance of captain Rohit Paudel, Nepal has showcased balanced performances — with both batting and bowling clicking in unison. Key players like Kushal Bhurtel, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Sompal Kami have been instrumental in their unbeaten streak.
Oman Also Books Their Spot
Hosts Oman, too, have ensured qualification with an unbeaten record in their campaign so far. Oman’s appearance in the 2026 T20 World Cup will be their fourth, having previously featured in 2016, 2021, and 2024. The final qualification slot from the Asia and EAP region remains open, setting up an exciting battle among the remaining teams.
Oman and Nepal will now clash in a top-of-the-table encounter on October 15 at Al Amerat, where the two unbeaten sides will look to finish the qualifier phase on a high note.
Remaining Slot Still Up for Grabs
With two qualification berths sealed, the remaining teams in the Asia-EAP region are now fighting for the last remaining World Cup spot. The final outcome will determine who joins Oman and Nepal in representing Asia’s emerging cricket nations on the world stage next year.
