Arshdeep Singh Surpasses Bumrah to Record Best Bronco Test Score Among Indian Pacers

In the latest development from the Indian cricket camp, Arshdeep Singh has outperformed senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana to register the best Bronco Test score by an Indian fast bowler. The tests, held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in August 2025, were a part of India’s mandatory pre-Asia Cup fitness regime.
With head coach Gautam Gambhir enforcing strict fitness standards, every Indian cricketer had to undergo the grueling Bronco Test, a high-intensity endurance assessment widely used in football and rugby. According to reports by PTI journalist Kushan Sarkar, Arshdeep emerged as the fittest pacer in this round of testing, leaving a strong impression ahead of the Asia Cup.
What is the Bronco Test?
The Bronco Test is a stamina-focused drill designed to test an athlete’s speed, endurance, and recovery ability. It consists of five sets of shuttle runs across 20m, 40m, and 60m distances, covering a total of 1200 meters within a defined time frame. Initially popular in rugby and football, the BCCI introduced it post the England Test series to raise Indian players’ fitness benchmarks.
Arshdeep Raises the Bar
Though the fitness scores are officially confidential, reports indicate that Arshdeep’s results were unmatched among Indian fast bowlers. With the Asia Cup demanding sustained pace and stamina, his improved conditioning provides India with a major boost.
All Asia Cup Stars Clear Tests
In addition to the Bronco Test, the players were also put through Yo-Yo tests under the watchful eyes of the BCCI’s strength and conditioning experts. Encouragingly, all Asia Cup-bound players cleared the mandatory assessments, proving their readiness for the high-pressure tournament.
The results, submitted to the BCCI, highlighted that the squad is in satisfactory physical condition, with the fitness staff emphasizing that maintaining peak levels throughout the competition will be crucial.
With India set to begin their Asia Cup campaign soon, Arshdeep Singh’s exceptional Bronco Test score could translate into impactful spells on the field — and possibly cement his role as India’s pace spearhead for the tournament.
